Decision criteria needs to be SMART. For example a criteria of “Being ethical” is not SMART. “Consistent with Madison College’s code of conduct of xxxxxxxx” is SMART. Troll search • Brainstorm everything can possibly go wrong with the solution/alternative(s) chosen. • Assign 0-10 of the likelihood each item will happen. • Assign 0-10 the severity to the success of the project of each item. • Multiple the two numbers for each item. The higher the number, the higher the priority of the potential failure. • Determine action plans to eliminate troll (kill), if you can’t eliminate it, how will you reduce the effect (squash), if you can’t reduce the effect, how will react if it happens (defend).
