Test 3 ( due today October 14th before 10:00 pm)

Date Posted: 14/10/2019
Category: History
Due Date: 14/10/2019
Instruction
Your final will be different from the others. This time you will be able to choose only 1 of several possible essays. Do not try to do all of them! I will create a sources page for each essay. Please contribute your sources to it. I will also separately create a rubric on how I will grade the essay. I hope that each of you will find a topic that interests you and will cause you to research it. Again ask questions on the question board. 1. Discuss the succession of Texas from the Union. Include Sam Houston's role in it. Unlike some states, a large part of Texas did not wish to leave. Hint the German population of Central Texas generally opposed succession. There will be a succession convention to discuss. Identify the key figures in this debate. This time please include specific dates as they are important to the story and where did various meetings take place. 2. Discuss the history of the Cherokee Native Americans in Texas. Again dates are important. Discuss the various leaders of the Native Americans and again Sam Houston and Governor Lamar. Where in Texas were the Cherokee before the Trial of Tears (when did it occur?) Where were anglo land grants being given? Could some Native American Cherokee and or other NA.s somehow moved to Texas and assimilated with the anglos moving westward about the same time? Those who try this one may find contradictory information so be sure and cite your sources as you go along. Yes I do mean tell me where the information comes from with either end caps or enumerated and raised. So in this one it is important that you document as you go along where the information comes from. In discussing Governor Lamar's policy please include how he treated the Tejano population as well. In particular Juan Seguin. 3. The Free State of Jones Movie gives a view of what the Civil War was about. Discuss it and give me your opinion on the accuracy of it.
