For this assignment, students will learn about classical management theory.  There are three areas of management theory:  classical, behavioral, and situational.  For this exercise, students will learn about the components of the three classical management theories (i.e., scientific, administrative, and bureaucratic) in a health care setting. This is a group project, and all students are expected to do the following: *1.  Read Mahmood, Basharat, & Bashir (2012) article on the classical management theories.  Answer the following question on each theory in your group: What was the purpose of each  management theory in the article according to the authors? 2.  In your group, choose one of the three classical management theories and find another peer reviewed article that strengthens the use of the theory and one peer reviewed article that critiques the theory. Follow the guidelines on what a peer-reviewed article consists of.  Do NOT use popular articles (e.g., Harvard Business Review, USA Today, Washington Post, etc.) 3.  Next, using the concepts you have learned about in class that could include where patient care is delivered (e.g., hospitals, clinics), and using the peer reviewed articles you found in #2 (above),  state in one paragraph, why your group suggests that your management theory would be effective in  the health care industry. What your group will hand in: This paper should be a minimum of one page and maximum of two pages and include APA citations in the paper (excluding title and reference page).  Your group will have a minimum of three sources; and no more than five.  Make sure all of your group names are listed on the paper for full credit.
