Given below are the ages of motorcyclists at the time they were fatally injured in traffic accidents (based on data from the U.S Department of Transportation).
a) If your objective is to dramatize the dangers of motorcycles for young people, which would be the most effective: Histogram, Pareto chart, Pie Chart, Dot plot, Stem plot, or some other graph? Explain your choice.
b) Is it ok to deliberately distort the data if the objective is one such as saving lives of motorcycles?
Data:
17 38 27 14 18 34 16 42 28
24 40 20 23 31 37 21 30 25
17 28 33 25 23 19 51 18 29
2-For this lab report you are going to create a histogram using a particular form of technology known as Stat crunch.
Directions:
1. log-into mymathlab
2. On the left tab- click on "tools for success":
3. Half way down the page you will see information about stat crunch. Click on the link labeled: 'Open the data sets from your textbook using Stat crunch'
4. Select any dataset of interest
5. A new window will open with your selected data. At the top of the page you will see a tab "graph". click on this tab, and scroll down to "histogram"
6. In the pop- up window click on the variable (i.e., age, birth weight.) that you would like to graph, and click compute.
OUTPUT:
a) Save or take a screenshot of the histogram (1 point),
b) Briefly discuss what your histogram tells you about your data (1 point). A good response should be at least 4-5 sentences and should include concepts discussed in chapter 2 such as the shape of the graph, the highest and lowest frequencies, the range of the data etc. You should also briefly outline your dataset for the reader (i.e., this histogram shows the shoe size of men from a sample 150...). (1 point)
Upload both your histogram and your description to this assignment.
