Instruction
For this assignment you will create a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for the initial building of a residential home. The requirements are: 2 Story House with a full basement. Acquire a lot, greenfield site. Design. Permitting. Foundational Work, i.e. digging, block, cement floor. HVAC System including ducting, furnace, A/C, wiring, plumbing, etc. Framing of exterior. Roof Framing of interior. Drywall. Paint. Installation of cabinets. Installtion of woodwork. Installation of appliances. Inspections. Landscaping. Based on these items, what is the top level of the Project, 1.0? Identify the major subtask catagories, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. Now break down subtasks further into work packages within the WBS I would expect to see a WBS that encompasses a minimum of (60) work packages. Note: A computer generated sketch is required. The sketch should be just a "floor plan". In other words, show the outside dimensions of the house and the interior walls, doorways, etc. You do not have to show cabinets, fixtures, etc. There are a number of free CAD packages that can be downloaded to do your design, i.e. Inkscape, Fusion 360, etc. No hand sketch will be accepted. Once you have done the sketch, copy it into a Word document or PowerPoint slide. Note: You can have the subtasks as Site Prep, Interior, Rough In, Finish, etc. The aforementioned are just examples, you can come up with others. Remember the Subtasks are the major elements for work. The work packages are the detail tasks to be done.
