Instruction
Your treatment of the topic must draw on scientific research, including no fewer than five articles, book chapters, monographs, etc., in addition to relevant research that has been assigned for class. You should synthesize all of this literature into a well-organized exposition on your selected topic
The research should be of a scholarly nature; a list of academic, peer-reviewed journals in which you are most likely to find useful research is included on the last page of this syllabus.
Your paper must also include a bibliography, which should have entries for all of the sources that you use. The quality of your bibliography will be factored into my evaluation of your paper.
The bibliography should include for each source all bibliographic information (and not merely an Internet address): the name(s) of the author(s), the year of publication, the title, and in the case of a journal article, the name and volume number of the journal in which it appeared and the page numbers.
It should be typed, double-spaced with one-inch margins.
Your paper should be a minimum of five pages but no more than eight pages of narrative.
Your paper should include an introduction and a conclusion.
You are also expected to acknowledge your sources with citations in the text as appropriate; acknowledgments are due for any fact, opinion, or interpretation for which you are not the original source.
While your paper need not be limited to the five sources on which you write synopses, you must properly cite, and list in the bibliography, all of the sources that you use.
Your paper will be evaluated on a number of dimensions. I will appraise your review of previous research in terms of the quality and relevance of the previous research that you use, the accuracy and insight with which you draw pertinent information from previous research (including assigned readings), and the extent to which you synthesize and integrate the information from different sources.
