PART 1: Module 5: Assignment 1 - Writing Simulation
An important experience in this course is to understand what it is like to be a student with a learning disability, including students who are English Language Learners (ELL). In order to help you develop this understanding, you will be experiencing LD simulations and then writing about them.
Instructions:
There are four areas of learning in which you will participate in LD simulations: attention, reading, writing, and mathematics. Here in Module 5, you will experience and respond to the remaining two of them: writing and math; in Assignment 1, you will complete the writing simulation. Visit the following website and take part in all the simulations and the videos for writing, Here is the website:

Once you have experienced each of the simulations, answer the following questions in complete sentences.
1. What did you experience and how did you feel as you tried the simulation?
2. What insights did the simulation give you into the experiences of students with learning disabilities in that particular area (e.g., writing and math)?
3. How does this activity impact or influence your future interactions and teaching of students with disabilities?
Although this assignment includes four simulation areas (attention, reading, writing, and mathematics), here in Module 5 you are addressing only the remaining two of those areas (writing and math), and it is only the simulations for writing you are completing in this assignment.
Submission Instructions:
Your entire paper should be one to two pages, not including the cover and References page. Your response to the above questions for each of the simulation areas should be edited for minor grammatical and spelling errors and adhere to the general writing style and formatting guidelines of the APA Manual (6th ed.).
PART 2: Module 5: Assignment 2 - Math Simulation
An important experience in this course is to understand what it is like to be a student with a learning disability, including students who are English Language Learners (ELL). In order to help you develop this understanding, you will be experiencing LD simulations and then writing about them.
Instructions:

Here inAssignment 2 of Module 5, you will experience and respond to the remaining two of the final simulation: math. Complete the math simulation. PART 3:Module 6: Discussion 1 -- Discussion Board (MUST RESPOND TO 2 CLASSMATES)
Your readings for this module focus on the teaching of mathematics to students with learning disabilities. To deepen your understanding and to examine this information in a new perspective, the following discussion questions are provided.
Instructions:
Provide a written response of one to two paragraphs, using complete sentences, to each of the discussion questions listed below:
1. How does language development affect a student’s ability to learn math? Name two ways a teacher can help students who have language problems
2. What are the three types of approaches to mathematics intervention? Which method do you think would be best for children with learning disabilities and why?
Submission Instructions:
Please post your initial response and comment on the posts of at least two classmates
