Hellenistic art tends to be more violent and dramatically emotional than the art of the Hellenic Period. It can be argued that throughout history, art during times of conflict and war reflects the violence and perhaps in some propagandistic manner glorifies it, while during times of peace, war and violence are in a similarly propagandistic manner de-glorified. A similar trend, namely, during times of relative peace, art tends to be more serene, during times of war, violence and gore tend to dominate can be seen in contemporary decades of war and peace in the twentieth century art form--Movies. Discussion Prompt: Discuss a movie produced during a period of war or conflict--WWII, Vietnam, Gulf War with another movie produced during a period of peace (between wars) within the same genre (Drama, Action, Comedy, Horror, etc.) and compare the treatment of the same subject matter from those turbulent/peaceful times. Do you find the trend discussed above to be accurate. Cite specific evidence from the films to support your views.
