Instruction
Your goal is to apply the relevance of the community issue (the importance of storytelling in
times of uncertainty and fear) to the concepts discussed in this class. In your reflection, discussthe following questions:
What was the community issue that was discussed at the event?
What are the various viewpoints and approaches to consider when discussing this issue? Whatare some theories that we have discussed in this class that relate to the community issue?
Did you see any patterns or repeated themes between all three speakers at the event? If so, what were those themes?
Where do you see this community issue leading? What research could be done to further analyze this issue?
How do you see the issue progressing in the future?
What limitations do you have with your group discussion and pursuing more information about theissue?
***Extra Information I've gather from a previous discussion question, that may give insight on each speakers speach.***
(Disscusiion 4 - A+CE Communication Studies Speaker's)
- Question:After attending or viewing the video of the A+CE COMM STUDIES SPEAKER's event, what did you learn about culture, inclusion, tolerance, remembrance, and forgiveness?
-My Response:
After watching the video of the A+CE Communication Studies speaker event, I have learned a lot about cultural acceptance, remembrance, inclusion and integration. Listening to each speaker talk about how to not forget the importance of passing down your family’s heritage or culture was one of the most important messages I received. Rabbi Lyon, Dr. Zuniga, and Dr. Roubicek each spoke on cultural acceptance, remembrance, inclusion and integration. Through storytelling, Rabbi Lyon gave insight on traditions that may or may not continue through future generations. Dr, Zuinga, spoke on the importance of forgiveness, in which many survivors forgave those who was a part of the great tragedy. As the lord’s prayer states, “forgive us our trespasses,” which translates to us freeing ourselves or someone from doing something. Focusing on the importance of remembering life events, Dr. Roubiceks’ message was to never forget the stories that are being told to or things that has happened to you and to also authenticate our lives to bring more relief in life.
