Historiography:
In essay format (750 words) please respond to the following question: E.H. Carr once argued that the crucial
part of the historian's work was to provide explanations and interpretations of established facts. Carr also
believed that ‘History is an unending dialogue between the present and the past.’ Using your acquired
knowledge of the subject matter and the historiographical debates examined by Richardson in his The Debate
on the English Revolution, why is the history of the English Civil War/English Revolution subject to
ongoing and changing interpretations and how does this process help us to understand better this
period in British history?
