Final Research Paper
For your final essay of the year, you must write an Argumentative Research Paper of 1000 – 1500 words. The essay topic may be one of your choosing, but it must meet with the professor’s approval. • Nb. - I have posted on Blackboard a list of potential Research Questions that you are free to use as a starting point if you cannot think if your own topic.
The essay topic should be academic and scholarly in tone and content, intended for a college-level audience. It will require extensive academic research consisting of scholarly texts and journals.
Your research paper should have at least four scholarly sources (to be included in a “Works-Cited” page), which have been substantially incorporated into your essay (though direct quotations, paraphrasing, and summarizing, etc.) using parenthetical citations and according to MLA format.
Keep in mind an Argumentative Research Paper is not simply an expository composition where you inform the reader of something already proven or factual (e.g., a report on the life of President Obama). Rather, it is a composition that argues a thesis that is debatable and/or has yet to be concretely and certifiably proven one way or the other (e.g., Global Warming does/does not have an effect on mass human migration).
We will be working on this research paper according to the schedule below.
