The paper which I would like for is a research paper on the coherence and connections between authoritarianism, social capital/civic engagement, and symbolism (political science/political culture). The authoritarianism can be talked about through the lens of V for Vendetta aka surveillance, as well as symbolism that exists in V for Vendetta and how that ties into social capital and thoughts of the society. The paper should go into how these novels exemplify social norms and structures, where one influences the other. The issue of social capital and civic engagement can be elaborated upon with the new movie: The Joker. V for Vendetta and Joker can be the works studied for this research paper, DO NOT explain the novel and movie, analyze them and tie it into the sources and connect the meanings and I will provide a few sources with links, to go through and cite specific things.

Use the Joker movie as well as the graphic novel, V for Vendetta by Alan Moore
I also attached 2 documents to use to find quotes and sources
You will have to add about 3 additional sources besides what I have provided
The guidelines for the paper are as follows:
Must include at least 5 scholarly sources. That is, journal articles or academic books. These do not include websites such as Wikipedia. It is okay to use the sources we used in the course.
Must include a “works cited” page or bibliography (does not count towards the page limit).
Must include a thesis statement in the first page. Your thesis should clearly state your argument and explain how you will address the argument in your essay.
The paper must be double-spaced in 12 inch font using Times New Roman or Arial font.
Pages must be numbered.
The paper must address any of the topics on political culture we’ve covered this term.
Exceeding the page limit docks the grade by 2 points for each additional page.
Assessment:
Your paper will be assessed based on your adherence to the stated guidelines.
Incorporation of the course material into your argument.
Use of scholarly sources in the argument.
Organization, including thesis statement.
Grammar (excessive grammatical errors dock the grade). Make sure to edit and revise before submitting.
