Assume you have been invited as a guest speaker during a convention in your local community. As a public administration professional, you have been asked to discuss deficit spending and the purpose of this governmental activity.
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation for your speech. Your intended audience consists of local public leaders, including the mayor, local business leaders, and concerned citizens. At the minimum, include answers to the following:
What is deficit spending? What role does deficit spending have in the overall budgetary process and plan for public organizations?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of deficit spending?
Should leaders and elected officials be allowed to spend monies on programs they see fit for the betterment of the community? Why or why not?
How should budget developers consider the impact of recession and inflation concerning deficit spending?
Provide specific examples where appropriate.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.
Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.
