Part 3: Module 4: Discussion 1 -- Autism and Hearing Impairment affects on language Chapters 7 & 8 present us with two very different populations who both have language deficits as a characteristic of their disorder. Autism is a disability that is difficult to understand as there is limited knowledge about what causes it or where it comes from. How can we incorporate interventions in our classrooms to facilitate learning? Individuals with hearing impairment present a different set of difficulties. Yes, they have language deficits, but how do you assist them when they have difficulty hearing you? The following discussion questions are designed to help you understand and perhaps begin to unravel the challenges faced by children who have either of these disabilities.
