  • This homework assignment gives you the opportunity to practice file I/O, sorting/searching, parallel arrays, functions with array arguments and reference variables. HW1 (Graded out of 100) Write a program that manages students’records. Each student’s record consists of a netID, a major and a GPA, maintained in parallel arrays. The program will read students’ data from a file and loop on displaying the following menu of choices: List the top n students Search for a student Exit the program. If the user chooses 1, the user will be prompted for the value of n, and the netID, major and GPA of the top n students will be listed, starting with the student with highest GPA and going down. If the user chooses 2, user will be prompted to enter the student’s netID. If the netID is found in the netID array, the array index, major and GPA of the student are displayed. If the student is not found, a “Student not found” message is displayed.
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:35 PM
  • If the user chooses 3, the program prints “Exiting\n” and terminates. 1. Additional Requirements – Make sure you comply with all the requirements to avoid losing points a) Arrays definition Define these arrays in the main function (for consistency, please use the same names to make the grading easier): const int NUM_ELMTS = 18; // netID, major and GPA are parallel arrays int netID[NUM_ELMTS]; // Original netID array string major[NUM_ELMTS]; // Original major array double GPA[NUM_ELMTS]; // Original GPA array
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:36 PM
  • // sortedGPAbyGPA is sorted by GPA, and sortedNetIDbyGPA and sortedMajorbyGPA are parallel arrays double sortedGPAbyGPA[NUM_ELMTS]; // GPA array, sorted by GPA int sortedNetIDbyGPA[NUM_ELMTS]; string sortedMajorbyGPA[NUM_ELMTS]; // sortedNetIDbyID is sorted by netID, and sortedMajorbyID and sortedGPAbyID are parallel arrays int sortedNetIDbyID[NUM_ELMTS]; // netID array,sorted by netID string sortedMajorbyID[NUM_ELMTS]; double sortedGPAbyID[NUM_ELMTS];
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:36 PM
  • b) Arrays initialization The arrays will be initialized by reading from a file, and the program prompts the user for the file name. c) File The file is a text file containing student records. A student record consists of a student’s netID, followed by that student’s major, followed by that student’s GPA. An example of student record is as follows (for simplicity, assume the student’s netID is an int): 1001 CS 3.8
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:37 PM
  • The file continues.... Can you please confirm with me that you received the jiff file image of the instructions and what this assignment is supposed to do?
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:38 PM
  • Another thing I noticed, as per the instructions, is the user is able to enter the file name
    User_26268 | Feb 19, 2020, 15:39 PM
  • I get it now friend. Thank you
    Javawriter | Feb 19, 2020, 16:43 PM
  • Check if everything is now okay my friend. Thank you
    Javawriter | Feb 20, 2020, 08:16 AM
  • Hi, this still doesn't follow directions
    User_26268 | Feb 20, 2020, 11:56 AM
  • Particularly variable names and functions. Additionally,this assignment utilizes arrays not structs. Please correct, I am worried you do not understand the assignment. The code also failed the test case. Were you able to open up the file with instructions?
    User_26268 | Feb 20, 2020, 11:59 AM
  • I am uploading my annotations of the instructions and resending the instructions once more
    User_26268 | Feb 20, 2020, 12:09 PM
  • You can also use my original cpp file to get started on the assignment...
    User_26268 | Feb 20, 2020, 12:23 PM
  • On my side everything is working just like you have specified in the instructions, I am wondering what happening there
    Javawriter | Feb 20, 2020, 12:31 PM
  • Let me see ...
    Javawriter | Feb 20, 2020, 12:33 PM
  • Hello, my other assignment from another project went really well, Im checking on my work with you now to see if you were able to understand and follow the same type of directions

  • Alright friend.
    Javawriter | Feb 21, 2020, 01:39 AM

  • However, I couldn't have worked with your code since it had a lot code errors .. I coded the same program with your parameters, Students, netID, and Grades as well . the Code is running you can insert students Details , you can search the arrays as well , you can terminate the system as well the last thing you can display error message . since the code at cheggs you instructed not to tamper with it whatsoever, I had to create a fresh program from scratch.. Kindly run the code and test cases as well.

  • Check in and verify please
    Javawriter | Feb 22, 2020, 01:12 AM
  • Hello I am extremely frustrated. Again and again this code looks like you never read the instructions
    User_26268 | Feb 23, 2020, 06:38 AM
  • Where in the assignment does it reference deleting a record? Your code deletes records Where in the code is the linear search function? Where in the code is the binary search function? Where do the number of iterations output? Where are the sorting functions? Why is there multiple extra not needed menu items when the file clearly lists 3? Have you confused this assignment with someone else, because now I am confused
    User_26268 | Feb 23, 2020, 06:42 AM

  • Sort functions Implement the following functions. You must use the same function name, parameter list and return type to pass the unit tests. /* This function sorts array1 and maintains the parallelism of array2, and array3 Whenever elements of array1 are swapped, the elements of array 2 and array3 at the same indices are also swapped */ void modifiedSortGPA(double array1[], int array2[], string array3[], int size) { // Function body } /* This function sorts array2 and maintains the parallelism of array1 and array3 Whenever elements of array2 are swapped, the elements of array 1 and array3 at the same indices are also swapped */ void modifiedSortID(int array2[], double array1[], string array3[], int size) { // Function body }
