The FISA Court
.
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) among other areas, established a "secret" court known as the FISA Court. This court can authorize "roving surveillance, sneak and peak orders, and electronic surveillance and interceptions. Do you believe that the proceedings are justified? Post your opinion and answer to at least another student.
student response:
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court reviews applications submitted by the United States Government for approval of electronic surveillance, physical search and other investigative actions for foreign intelligence purposes (FISC). Personally, I believe that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was a good implementation because it allowed authorities to legally obtain footage of people they wanted to gather more information about. I think that the proceedings are justified, because when someone wants to obtain footage of a specified person they have to submit a request and provide documentation as to why they are requesting that footage. Although FISA is a controversial topic, I believe it was implemented to create a proper process to be able to obtain access to surveillance of certain people justifiably.
