Project Summary: The Washington "Redskins" Football Team Name Controversy Discussion on some of our society's most current and controversial topic, the ongoing controversy over the use of the name "Redskins" for Washington D.C.'s NFL football team. This is one of the oldest teams in the league, and this team name goes back for centuries. Many sports fans, and members of the public, claim that the name should be kept, out of tradition, and yet there have been an increasing number of citizens, in particular, Native Americans from across the country, voicing their opposition to the use of a word that they consider a serious racial slur against Native American people (similar to the "N" word, to man.) Please read and comment on the arguments put forth in BOTH articles, below, and weigh in on what you think about the persuasive efforts of each side on this issue - should the team change their name to something less offensive?
