Project Summary: Philosophy of Language Suppose that there is no spy in our class. Then it would seem that the definite description the spy in our class fails to denote (or refer to) anything. Consider the sentence: The spy in our class is bald. Explain what Freges theory from On Sense and Reference would say about this sentence. How would Russells theory from On Denoting differ from Freges in its treatment of this sentence? Why does Russell think his treatment is superior? Is he right? Instructions: 1. Write 3 pages, double spaced, regular font, regular margins, and in an MLA format. 2. Establish a very tight single, and clear thesis on that and overwhelm me with a flood of clearly presented evidence in its favor. 3. Do not use any other sources other than the ones I will send to you at all, please which are: Frege- On Sense and Reference and Russell- On Denoting. 3. I recommend to look at Jim Pryors website called Guidelines on Writing a Philosophy Paper.
