Project Summary: One of key topics in this chapter is that of a value chain. It's sometimes easiest to understand this with a manufacturing company. For example, if I make steel, the actual manufacturing of the steel is the middle component of the value chain. Acquiring the raw materials, get the raw materials to my manufacturing plant are the key inbound components (found on the left side of the value chain). After we have manufactured the steel, we are concerned about getting the steel to our consumers, so processes like shipping and distribution must occur on the right hand side of the value chain (outbound components). There are also many support activities such as purchasing the raw materials, the HR function to ensure we have the employees we need and that they have appropriate training etc. For this discussion board, choose a company and describe their value chain in detail. Do not use an example from the internet. This is an example that you should develop using your knowledge from chapter 3.
