Project Summary: Each student will be assigned two works of art to compare and contrast for this assignment. The assignments will be posted as a separate document in the Comparative Paper Assignment folder. When considering a comparative paper, begin with a complete identification of the two works being compared. Look carefully at the similarities (compare) and the differences (contrast). Continue your investigation with responses to the following questions: Objective: To understand similarities and differences of meaning between two works of art based on observation and analysis. Recommended before you begin: • Read Chapter 5 in A Short Guide to Writing About Art, “Writing a Comparison” (pgs. 135 – 150) This is a recommended text in your syllabus, but not required.
