Project Summary: Team Assignment Northouse in Chapter 13 describes the psychodynamic approach to leadership. While similar to the trait approach in Chapter 2 and the style approach in Chapter 4, there are differences with the psychodynamic approach. The trait approach emphasizes specific important characteristics necessary for leadership. The style approach suggests that one style, the team management style, is preferred. The situational approach in Chapter 5 has an emphasis on linking style with the needs of the subordinates. The psychodynamic approach emphasizes personality suggesting that personality is a factor in leadership effectiveness. The emphasis is not on matching personalities, instead the emphasis is on understanding personality. Personality is predictable, so an awareness of personality provides an additional leadership approach. On page 330, Northouse reviews Jungian personality types. The text frames this with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In GM502, you took the Insights Profile, which is also based on Jungian psychology. Instead of acronyms (ESTP, ISTP, ESFP or another thirteen), which may be difficult to remember, Insights uses colors (blue, red, green, and yellow). In the Unit 4 Team Exercise, you will use your Insights Profile to facilitate improved team performance. You may want to review the Insights Webcast Library to re-familiarize yourself with this tool: http://www.insightsvancouver.com/discovery-webcasts/ This link contains a webcast library you can access to better understand your Insights Profile. For this assignment, please view Session 4: Profile Application. Start at the 3 minute 34 second mark (3.34) with a review of the Strengths Page which concludes at 5.50. Then go to 8.08 to review the Weaknesses Page which leads to the Value to the Team at 9.36 and runs to the end of the webcast. The Insights Evaluator is a personal style assessment that offers you a way to understand your own personality, identify other personality styles, and adapt to different communication needs. The Insights evaluation will be useful in this course and in your team projects throughout the MSM program. Your Personal Profile offers information about your probable strengths, weaknesses, and areas of development. You will also receive the Management Chapter, which describes your management style, what motivates you, your ideal work environment, and how you are optimally managed. For this assignment, you will prepare a PowerPoint Presentation based on Case 12.2. For the purpose of this assignment, assume that Stan has sought out your consulting group to help him lead his team. The presentation should be a minimum of twelve slides, not including the title and reference slides. Each slide is required to also include a script of what would be said at that point in the presentation. The slides should be easy to read. The introduction slide should clearly articulate the purpose of the presentation and why it is of value to your client. Be sure to include a call to action accompanied by a motivational slide that would incline the client to act positively upon your recommendations. Kaplan offers many resources to help you create good presentations. One resource is in your classroom on the tab labeled Atomic Learning. There you will find workshops and other helpful hints and tips to make your presentation successful I need the Hook part for the slide Hook Why implement your recommendation, what is in it for them? I hope this makes sense
