Project Summary: Course Name: Social Ethics Students need to write a 8-10-page research paper on the topic of social ethics. Students are expected to research ONE topic in social ethics — racial justice, poverty, world hunger, ecology and global warming, women’s rights, criminal justice, capital punishment, gun control, immigration, animal rights, drug and opioid pandemic, pharmaceutical industry, etc. — and discuss it in light of ethical themes presented in class. Students should focus specifically on one of the ethical theories presented — virtue theory, deontological ethics, utilitarianism, social contract theory, or transvaluation of values — and argue why that theory would best address the social ethical issue they are consideration.
