Project Summary: Directions and Draft Requirements Your first draft should include: ● Title Page: o APA 7th edition format with your essay title, name, course, instructor, and date. ● Introduction Paragraph: o Hook: Make sure that the first sentence of your introduction paragraph is an engaging statement or question that works to hook your reader into your topic. o Introduce the topic, provide background, and present the thesis as the last sentence of the introduction. o You may include evidence from outside sources in this paragraph, but it is not required. o The thesis statement should be the final sentence of your introduction paragraph and must let the reader know your topic, your stance on the topic, and three points that support your argument stance. ▪ Important note about thesis statements: ● Avoid announcement (“In this essay, I will….” or “I will explain…”) ● The thesis should never include any direct or indirect quotes from your sources.
