Instruction
1. Page Requirements - Two to Four Double-Spaced Pages (Not including references)
2. Reference at least three outside sources (Wikipedia, non-mainstream outlets do not count)
3. Follow APA guidelines for references: In the text, use (Author, year) and if you are directly quoting something make sure you put quotes around the sentence. For example - "Chris is a brilliant instructor" (Brown, 2018). If it is not a direct quote, and you are paraphrasing or using the reference to help support your argument, do not use quotation marks. For example - The KU Sport Management program is one of the top in the nation (Brown, 2018).
4. Use regular 1 inch margins, size 12 Times New Roman Font. Do not try to "trick" me with margins, spacing, or text size. I used all the tricks in my undergraduate degree and will spot them easily in your work.
5. Do not plagiarize or use work you did in another class (that is also plagiarism). KU subscribes to a system called SafeAssign that will flag work that is not your own and that will have academic misconduct consequences (see the syllabus).
6. Due by 11;59 p.m. on February 21st.
Prompt: You have just been hired as the Athletics Director at the high school from which you graduated. On your first day, you immediately notice that many of the best athletes in your school do not compete for the high school teams and instead focus their energy towards playing for the local "club" teams. This is especially a problem in boy's and girl's basketball, volleyball, and soccer. The school board has asked you to take two to four pages to do the following: (1) Describe the reasons your students may be more attracted to the club setting, (2) Detail what potential negatives this trend has for the students (and parents), (3) What ways could the high school make their teams/offerings more appealing to the students so they will want to play for their high school over the club?
