Instruction
When we come to faith in Christ there are things we do not know or realize. Looking back, we all realize that we are so thankful for things we learned; for those that came alongside of us and helped us, taught us, prayed for us, and were patient with us; and there are things we wish we had known then that we know now that would have helped so much.
You have been praying for a friend. You have prayed for and looked for opportunities to not just live the gospel in front of him, but to also share Christ with him. Over time, you have had the opportunity of sharing the gospel with him and he have recently come to faith in Christ. Now that he knows Christ, this is not the end of the journey but the beginning of his faith walk journey, which you will walk with him.
How will you now begin to walk with him, pour into him, and disciple him? What steps are you going to take? Where will you start? What are at least a minimum of 5 essential principles and/or practices you are going to teach and model so that he can continue to grow as a disciple of Christ, progress in his sanctification, and fulfill his role in the Body of Christ? Explain what are, why they matter, and what these are and what these look like in your own life. Remember: this is your new brother/sister…in Christ. Take into consideration: the next steps of believer’s baptism, the importance of the local church, tools and resources you may point him to, daily Bible reading, spiritual disciplines, and even things you learned/didn’t learn as a young believer, the importance of the local church. Remember, not all individuals may be familiar with the terms that you use or understand things immediately. It is fine to use theological terms, just be sure to explain things when you use them. Use relevant Scripture and supporting sources to develop and explain your response.
