Reporting on Research Papers
Before the Activity: Find a reported study (either an experiment or an observational study) on the Internet or in a magazine, journal, book, or newspaper in an area of interest to you. One good source, for example, is the New England Journal of Medicine archives (www.nejm.org/medical-articles/research)
Activity: Write a report on your chosen paper. Be sure to include the authors of the study; the title of the study; the journal, book, or magazine in which it was published; and the date of publication. In your report, answer the following question.
What is/are the research question(s) that the investigators are trying to answer?
What is/are the answer(s) to the research question(s)?
What were the methods they used to collect data?
Is the conclusion appropriate for the methods used to collect data?
To what population do the conclusions apply?
Has the results been replicated (that is, reproduced) in other article? Are the results consistent with what other researchers have suggested?
Due date: Sunday, April 13, 2020; submit your report and the selected paper.
Length: 2-3 pages in question-answer format in addition to a cover page and reference(s).
P.S.: You may want to review Section 12.3 of the attached material.
