Instruction
This week, you read about career information and resources including the use of technology to support career development programs. This week, you will be creating a LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/) for professional networking and connecting with your classmates. If you already have a LinkedIn profile, take a moment to update your profile. See our readings this week on how to make a better LinkedIn profile and how to create a resume. To prepare for our discussion board, create a LinkedIn profile for yourself and connect with at least 3 of your classmates on the site. (Remember this is an internet site so be careful when listing contact or other sensitive information. A phone number and physical address are not needed on your profile for this assignment.) For our discussion, you will be reviewing your colleagues LinkedIn profile and providing suggestions to enhance their profile.
Initial post: Reflect on the creation of your LinkedIn profile including a discussion of one additional resource you used to create your profile. Comment on ease of use, benefits, and concerns of using this site. Are there any populations you would not use this tool with? To help our colleagues better "Connect" and identify us for the Week 4 Discussion Board, please post the URL for your LinkedIn profile page in your initial discussion board post and be sure to "Follow" Lamar University's LinkedIn page. To further assist our colleagues, please consider posting the email address you used to create your profile as some of us may choose to use a non-Lamar email address.
Peer Response: Connect with your colleagues on LinkedIn. Review their LinkedIn profile and suggest 2-3 ways your colleague may improve their profile based on the resources and articles you have read this week.
To earn maximum points, postings should be evenly distributed throughout the discussion period reflecting participation from start to finish. Respond to at least 3 classmates on 3 separate days with substantive responses and support these responses with references. You may respond to a colleague prior to your initial post deadline. All postings should be appropriate, using proper language, cordiality, grammar, and punctuation. All citations and references must be in APA style.
