PART 1: Module 2: Discussion 1 -- Teaching Communication to Students with ASD and CCN
Throughout this modules chapters, the characteristics of students with ASD and their communication needs are reviewed. Additionally, the learner is introduced to interventions for communication.
Instructions:
Using the chapter and the additional reading provided thus far, provide a written response to each of the discussion questions below:
Identify some evidenced based strategies for teaching communication to students with ASD and discuss why you would use one of them in your classroom. What would be the benefit of the one you chose and what is one potential challenge or pitfall of your choice.
Submission Instructions:
Answer all questions thoroughly, following the APA guidelines when citing references from the book and other sources. Your response to each question must be a minimum of 1-2 paragraphs and clearly written without grammatical and/or spelling errors. Students are reminded to use respectful language that is void of any derogatory terms or slurs. These instructions are to be applied to both posts--your initial response and feedback provided to your peers.
All postings will be graded using the discussion rubric attached.
PART 2: Module 2 - Assignment 2 - Journal Critique - Using Technology to Support Balanced Literacy for Students with Significant Disabilities
The purpose of this assignment is to help students gain an understanding of how technology supports balanced curriculum for students with ASD and other disabilities

Your critique should include a brief summary of the content that highlights the main points expressed in the article. Include in your critique your perspectives and reactions to what the authors said or recommended, making sure you support or justify your viewpoints with examples or references to other articles and resources.
Submission Instructions:
Article critiques must be carefully edited and formatted according to APA (6th ed.). Critiques should range between 1 - 2 typed pages, not including the reference page. For instructions about how to format your paper, please refer to the APA Formatting Guidelines in the Getting Module.
Your assignment will be graded according to the grading rubric (points for each section of the rubric are doubled - 5 point rubric/10 point assignment).
PART 3: Module 2: Assignment 1 -- Website Anthology
Throughout the text you are introduced to a variety of websites and apps that provide assistance for students with disabilities, specifically those who are ASD. The purpose of this assignment is to create a database of resources you can use throughout your career when selecting assistive technology for your students.
Instructions:
Students are to submit a list of ten websites that provide assistance for AAC users or AAC developers. Be sure to include the URL and in bullet or paragraph form explain your rationale for choosing this website and brief explain how you will use it to benefit your students or your classroom.
