InstructionVisual Arts Visit Journal Visual arts are created primarily for visual perception, as paintings, graphics, sculpture, architecture, drawings, printmaking, ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, design, crafts, and architecture. Choose an art medium from the visual arts to examine to determine what the artist has presented and what inferences can be logically made from what you see. In Chapter 10, under Schools of Arts, there is a list of artwork during periods in history. You may want to search for popular artwork in one of the historical periods. Your paper should be outlined as follows: (Do not number your paragraphs in your paper or include the questions.) Include the title of work, artist’s name, date of work, and the medium used. Why did you choose this artwork? Which museum did you visit? What is the focus of the museum? Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I do not expect you to visit a museum unless it is through a virtual tour. However, you may choose to describe a piece of art you have viewed in the past. If the art form isn’t in a museum, share where, when, you examined the art form. Provide a detailed description of the art form. How would you describe this artwork to someone who has never seen it? What’s going on in this artwork? What does this artwork remind you of? Why? What was your first reaction to this artwork? Why do you think you had the reaction? What emotions do you notice in the artwork? What emotions do you feel when looking at this? How do you think the artist was feeling when he created this artwork? Relate the work of art back to what was covered in the textbook (Chapters 8, 9, & 10) focusing on Elements of Arts, Real or Abstract; Schools of Art; etc. What is beautiful about this artwork? What role does beauty play in contemporary art? Does a work of art need to be beautiful? Why, or why not? Who decides what is beautiful? Length: A minimum of 1.5 pages (500 words minimum). Submissions that do not meet the word length requirement will not be graded. Quotations and Works Cited page do not contribute to the word count.
