750+ Informative essay. Answer five questions today.

You have two options for the informative essay. OPTION 1: Content Analysis In this paper, you are analyzing the claims in an argumentative article. Unlike the analysis you may have done for the SAT, however, in this analysis you should question the conclusions of the original author. Give a close reading and feel free to look at outside research to support your conclusions. A couple questions to consider when reading the article: What are some of the assumptions upon which the author is basing the argument and what are some of the implications if these assumptions prove false? What further evidence would we want to know before following through with the proposal? What questions need to be answered before determining whether the author is right? What other causes may explain the author’s observations and how might these challenge his or her conclusions? OPTION 2: Rhetorical Analysis In this paper, you are going to consider one of the below articles and will write a rhetorical analysis in which you explore how the author conveys a thesis, theme, or meaning to his/her/their audience. Because of the nature of the assignment, some summary of the text will be necessary. You may quote and paraphrase from the text as well – indeed you should quote or paraphrase if doing so will illustrate the point you are making. A couple salient features to really consider when reading: Where does the author show audience awareness? What sort of stylistic or language tools does the author use to prove his/her point? What are the purposes (notice that there are probably several) of the author? What disciplines or discourses does the author draw from? Article : “On Punishment for Bullying – and Punishment as Bullying.” Alfie Kohn. Education Week 2016.
