Grade Breakdown for a total of 3 points: Author’s definition (1-3 sentences) =1 point Past thinker and definition (1 paragraph/ 5-8 sentences) = 1.5 point Explanation (1 short paragraph/ 3-5 sentences) = .5 point Based on your reading of Chapter 10, Education: It’s Nature and Its Role, How does Durkheim define education, and how does his definition differ from the previous definitions that he critiques? In your answer state Durkheim’s definition of education and name at least one past thinker (In Chapter 10) whom Durkheim criticizes. Make sure to provide, as best as you can, the definition of education the past thinker gives and explain why Durkheim is critical of that definition. Finally, explain how Durkheim’s definition is basically different from that of those past thinkers. (No opinion)
