Short Essay Assignment: 2-3 pages, typed, double spaced, 12 point font, 1 inch margins. Choose any one or two reading assignments from the syllabus covered so far in class (that you are not researching) . Discuss how the work(s) reflect social/historical issues from its period, and analyze how the writing style or major themes reflects these concerns. Make sure you use specific examples from the text, with some (about 3) direct quotations. Do not summarize the work, and do not use sources outside of your textbook and class notes. This is not a research paper. This is to be primarily an analysis/close reading focused on the work itself. Use MLA style for in-text citations. No works cited page is needed, since I know the citations originate from our textbook.

For each of the four wiki tasks, you will work with your group (using the wiki platform in Blackboard) to create a business document. Each wiki assignment has a specific scenario (evaluating a job candidate, outlining cybersecurity protocols, etc.) and you must respond with the appropriate document type that is written and revised to a high standard. Each of you should work on planning, writing, and revising the document. I do not want one person drafting the document and everyone else working on editing or revising. This task requires collaboration from beginning to end. The completed documents are usually only one page in length, so every word counts. Group Wiki #3 Your group works for Monarch Industries in the management, cybersecurity and operations departments. The cybersecurity protocols for your business are so far out of date that they are concerned with the security of data punch cards. Your Line Manager, H. Viceroy, has tasked your group with creating up to date protocols and disseminating these new procedures via a concise one-page memo. You should consider the following: What are current best practices in corporate cybersecurity? What does your group feel is most important when considering cybersecurity? How should staff react to phishing scams? Use of unauthorized digital storage devices? Use of unapproved websites on business-owned computer equipment You may use online sources and material from other courses to form the basis of your new protocol.
