Instruction
Instructions:
• Write clearly and directly. Keep each annotation entry under 200 words.
• Your annotations must include both summative and evaluative information (see below).
• Your annotation must continue directly from the citation. Do not leave a space between your
citation and your annotation.
• Your annotation must follow current APA format style
• Double space all lines of your citation and annotation. Do not add an extra space between
citations (see example).
• Citations must be in alphabetical order (author last name, etc.) and begin with a ‘hanging’ or
‘reverse’ indentation (see example).
• Use a size 12 and standard font (i.e. Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, etc.).
• Use SEPARATE pages for each annotation.
• Title page with relevant information (assignment name and number, your name, professor
name, date, course, and section.

What does it discuss (topics)? Who is the intended audience?
When and where was it written? What is the value of the source document--how does
it apply to your particular topic and technical report?
Why was it written (produced)—what
is its purpose?
What are the possible shortcomings of the source
document (re: the context of your topic and tech.
report)?
How was it provided to the public (in
what format [web, database, print,
etc.])?
Is the source document biased? (sponsored by a
company who manufactures, uses or sells a product,
process, etc., which the source document endorses?)
