How Has Medical Technology Improved Healthcare? Medical technology has helped increase life expectancy and improved the quality of life for many people. However, using available treatments can be very expensive, and advanced treatments may not be available from all healthcare providers or they may not be covered by all forms of health insurance. The issue of cost and availability are among a host of other ethical considerations regarding access to medical technology that can save lives or improve the quality of life for a patient.
