This is weeks writing assignment is more of a current event analysis (not current in that they just occurred but current event in terms of a straight news analysis). If you are not aware of the chemical attacks in Syria over the past several years, here are several links to help explain the situation. Yes, it was a horrible act but what aspects of international law or norms apply to the actions and actors involved? I want you to do some more research. Apply Chapter 11 ideas and concepts to explain some facet of the event. You do not have to completely analyze every single fact related this. Please select some aspect and explain how the Chapter applies. Bring in outside resources and create a bibliography. For example, did Syria break any international norms or international laws in carrying out this attack? If so, what were they, and why did Syria choose to violate them? Do any international law or norms support Syria's actions? If you want to look at the USA response, what international laws or norms were used as justification? What norms or laws limited retaliatory options? Did Israel break any international laws or norms in their response? Was it justified by international law? Did they face any negative outcomes from international law or norms? Remember to use and apply chapter idea in your assignment.
