Step 2: Equitable Distribution of Vaccines
1. With the development of a vaccine for Sars-CoV-2 in progress, national attention has turned toward how to distribute this vaccine equitably once it does become available. Research what equitable distribution means.
2. In 2-3 pages (double-spaced), discuss what achieving equitable distribution in your county would look like, and strategies that your specific county could employ to do this. Include details about the following.
a. Define equitable distribution. You could strengthen the introduction to this section by citing interviews from lawmakers/notable figures who have publicly discussed this issue. Discuss why it is important.
b. Describe health indicators that will be important in measuring equitable distribution. For example, you may use CountyHealthRankings.org to write about health indicators such as but not limited to the number of uninsured individuals, income inequality, and segregation. If you discuss a health indicator, be sure to explain what the health indicator means.
c. Describe at least two or three community resources or strategies that are specific to your chosen county that will aid in these efforts. For example, you may discuss specific community organizations or hospitals to partner with, specific regions of the county that have been harder hit to target, or other resources/strategies, and why these avenues should be explored.
