The quotation should then be interpreted and analysed and applied to your overall argument and thesis  Your essay must be balanced by considering both subjects equally  Your essay should look at the style of the novel as well as the plot, characters and themes  Length: Four (4) pages in MLA Format ESSAY TOPICS 1. Choose two of the three characters- Boy, Dunstan or Magnus and compare/ contrast how their lives are altered by the guilt they experience. 2. Boy, Magnus and Dunstan are al characters who have been twice- born. Compare and contrast two of those characters and how they transform their identities. You must include in your essay what motivates these characters to re- invent themselves? Do their new identities help them to reach self- actualization? 3. Choose two female characters and compare and / or contrast their impact on Dunstan’s life. You must consider to what degree do these women help Dunstan fulfill his destiny of Fifth Business and / or realize his true self. 4. Compare and /or contrast Boy’s marriages. You must include in your essay how do these marriages help display Boy’s development as a human being? 5. Compare and / contrast the role Liesl and Blazon play in Dunstan’s life. You must consider in your essay what kind of devil is Liesl? What kind of Jesuit is Blazon? How do these characters impact Dunstan’ spiritual journey or his quest to self- actualization?
