Interview assignment.

Date Posted: 19/11/2020
Category: English
Due Date: 19/11/2020
Instruction
The purpose of this assignment is to better understand the role of communication in your field or discipline and how best to prepare yourself to enter that field or discipline following graduation as well as begin networking with those in your field or discipline of interest. You are to find someone in your field or discipline of interest to interview. You cannot interview a family member, and the interview must be done in person or over the phone, if a face-to-face interview cannot be scheduled. Though you may ask as many questions as you desire, the following information is required for the critique/analysis paper. If they are not giving you enough information with your basic questions, do not hesitate to ask probing questions (e.g. Could you please explain? or Could you provide some examples?) 1. What is the name of the company/organization? 2. What is the name of the person you interviewed and his/her official job title? 3. What is the primary business of the company/organization (products, services, etc.)? 4. How does this company/organization compare to its primary competition, including both strengths and weaknesses. 5. How important is communication to success in this company/organization? 6. What specific communication skills does the company/organization require of its employees? 7. What skills are needed to work for this company/position? 8. Is there any specific training necessary? Can it be obtained on the job or must it be complete in advance? 9. What are the main activities/duties that constitute the job you would be interested in? 10. If he or she could give you one piece of advice to prepare for work in this field or discipline, what would it be? Please use the information you receive from your interview to write a summary paper. It should be 2-3 pages long. Use MLA format. Discuss what you learned from your interview and how you can use this information for your future.
