The Week 13 Short Assignment will be in two parts, so you'll need to write half of your paper on one film and the other half on the other film. You must answer both questions Question 1.  Given that the first civilian killed for sport by the US soldiers in "The Kill Team" was a child who the soldiers stripped (and perhaps sexually assaulted) after the murder, what are your responses to the ways the Muslim victims of "the kill team" were dehumanized by their killers (ie, the soldiers)?  Please focus on the following soldiers interviewed -Jeremy Morlock, Jeremy Stoner, or Andrew Holmes - in your responses and NOT on Adam Winfield (the main subject of the documentary).   Question 2.  Discuss your reactions to the photographic depictions of torture of Muslim prisoners at US military prisons as shown in "Taxi to the Dark Side" (or in "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib" if "Taxi to the Dark Side" isn't available).  Given that we know that sexual torture is a war crime and was a prominent part of the torture  of Iraqi prisoners by US soldiers, discuss your reactions to the photos of prisoners who were sexually assaulted, naked and/or posed with women's underwear on their faces. Essays must be at least one page long;  they should be 1-2 pages double spaced in length.
