Part 1 The Timeline of Educational Choices
Use the template provided to create a timeline with four separate educational choices.
Start the timeline during the years you were in high school. Then, in chronological order, use the points of the timeline to list what you consider to be the four most important educational choices you have made to date.
For each timeline entry, include the educational choice made, the name of the institution you were attending, and the year. For example: Enrolled in Home Economics, Springdale High School, 2007.
Part 2 The Commentary: This should use the same template as was used for the timeline in Part 1. It should contain these elements:
Brief Introduction: Include these elements:
Brief explanation of what each of the elements of the timeline represent.
A cited and referenced explanation for the concepts of biological adaptation and social expectation.
A brief statement about how you will apply these concepts to your own educational choices.
Explanation of Choices in the Timeline
Create a chronologically ordered list of explanations for each educational choice.
Each explanation should start with the year of the timeline and the choice made. (For example: 2007 Enrolled in Home Economics.)
For each explanation, briefly explain whether you made the choice on the timeline based, at least partly, in biological adaptation or social expectation. Comment on whether you think micro-inequities were in any way a factor in your choice. Note that there may have been more than one reason behind any or all of the choices. Each commentary should be at least four sentences long.
Conclusion
In a single paragraph of at least four sentences, first define the hidden curriculum. Then explain whether any of your educational choices could have been made, at least partly, as a result of the hidden curriculum.
