Historiography Paper: Due Date – November 23 For the Historiography Paper, you are to pursue academic journals on legal history, such as the American Journal of Legal History, the Journal of Legal History, or the Law and History Review – all of which are available through the library’s online databases. Other journals may also be acceptable, however, the use of any such article must be pre-approved, email me. You are to skim through these journals and find an article that catches your interest. Once you have identified an article, you are to read and dissect it. Your paper will be a critical analysis of the article. Your analysis will address multiple matters relating to the article: First, identify the article, the journal, and the author. In identifying the author, who is the author, what are their credentials, what impact do the author’s identity, background, and training have on the article? In what ways is the article shaped by who the author is? In identifying the journal, is it significant that the article is published in that particular journal? Is the journal notable for any reason? Who puts out the journal? What does the journal focus on? Is it known for having any particular bias or perspective on matters? In identifying the article, is there any indication that the article is particularly well-known, widely read, or cited by other publications? Has it had any significant impact on the academic literature? Second, analyze and critique the article. What is the subject matter of the article? What is the author’s argument? What are the sources that the author relies upon? You must describe, evaluate, and critique all of these. Third, identify one or two additional articles from the same journal or similar academic journals on the same/similar topic and compare and contrast how these other articles address the topic in comparison to your primary article. How do the arguments differ? How do the sources differ? Do the authors employ different ideological perspectives? Use different sources of information? Etcetera. Your paper should be 3,400 – 3,600 words in length and must include a bibliography at the end in APA format, follow the link below for a guide to APA formatting. This is a make-up essay for me and I am aware that you won't have access to my school's library database So If you cannot find one of the specific journals allowed by my professor let me know and I will attach all the journals you need. I don't care if the assignment only comes out to 3,000 words I am just trying to get it done. I care more about proper grammar punctuation and spelling. Literally, just structure the essay exactly the same as the instructions and it will be fine.
