Last weeks written assignment in which you designed a process flowchart was designed to get your thought process engaged in the right direction towards this project. In this weeks submission, you are asked to develop your idea into a written proposal (MS Word document) detailing what your CQI project will be and why it is expedient. This project is to be implemented within your organization or within an organization you know very well. Please note that your CQI project of choice does not necessarily have to be clinical in nature, but must relate to process improvement in health care, and, preferably within your organization (or one you know very well). It is important to imagine that this proposal is being made to the most senior management within your organization (perhaps the chief of your organizations quality improvement and patient safety department) or anyone else who would have the power to approve this project. To make this exercise practical, you are encouraged to share your proposal with real senior managers in your office and seek to get their input and/or comment on your proposal (this part of the assignment is, however, not mandatory as it is only supposed to help make sure your project of choice is MOST beneficial and is one that will attract the attention and endorsement of senior management). Your proposal should be presented in an MS Word document, and should include a cover sheet with your name, course title, college and program of study, proposed CQI project title, instructors name, etc. In total, your proposal should not exceed 3 pages typed, double-line spacing, and with clearly defined sub-headers like Synopsis/Preamble, Proposed CQI project name, Essence of proposed CQI project, Time-frame/CQI project life-cycle, and Required Resources/Estimated Cost/Budget.
