INSTRUCTIONS The diagnostic model used for this assignment has eight (8) components (see Organizational Diagnosis Sample) and the diagnostic report/memorandum must include: 1. Introduction: A summary of the organization and what the consultant has found is needed at the beginning. It would be appropriate to begin with positive attributes about the organization so as to gain an ongoing client. 2. Observations: Give an overview of the organization with some demographics. This section should be brief. 3. Problem: A brief synopsis of the main problem from the evaluation of data will give the client an idea of what needs to be addressed. 4. Interviews: The book gives the details to conduct interviews of each person invested in the organization. 5. Data: The book provides accurate data to analysis the relationships within the organization. 6. Refinement of the Problem: If needed, restating the problem with a clearer understanding assists the organization as it moves forward. 7. Theory/Variables/Data Analysis: A theory/concept explains why the problem exists and identifies what variables would be relevant for analysis assisting in which explanation is most accurate. Data collection and analysis helps to understand the problem. A chart/diagram of the relationships gives the client a picture to understand better what factors in the organization or environment contribute to the problem. 8. Inference/Recommendations: Inference is based upon the data analysis and with reference to theory, conclusions about the findings can be advised. Recommendations point out any factors in the organization or environment contributing to the problem that need addressing or might be changeable. If the diagnosis is good, the steps to remedy the problem are usually clear.
