InstructionPlease choose a film adaptation of a book. Ideally, it should be a book you have read in the past, or a book you can read within a week. You may write about the film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz we have watched and read in class; or you may write about a film adaptation of a book of your choice. You are always welcome to contact me for help and advice when making your choice. Here are a few possible examples: Little Women: Book by Louisa May Alcott; Film directed by Greta Gerwig (2019) If Beale Street Could Talk: Book by James Baldwin; Film directed by Barry Jenkins (2018 The Hunger Games: Book by Suzanne Collins; Film directed by Gary Ross (2012) Brokeback Mountain: Book by Anne Proulx; Film directed by Ang Lee (2005) You can choose other books/films as well. The topic may or may not be related to questions of utopia and dystopia. Based on the instructions provided in class, consider what is your frame of reference, grounds for comparison, and organization scheme. The comparison shall be based on these elements. Include these details in the paper submission, on a separate page. Compare the book and the film according to these instructions. The comparison should lead to a meaningful interpretation, as explained in class. The paper structure can vary according to your organizational scheme (point-by-point or block method). Paper length: 700-800 words. (Shorter or longer papers will not be accepted.); To be submitted on Blackboard, under “Assignments/Comparative Paper,” as .doc file. The paper will be completed in two stages: a draft version and final revised version. The draft version is due by Friday, March 26, at 5pm. You will receive feedback on the draft during the following week. The final, revised version is due by Friday, April 9, at 5pm.
