Assignment is to go out into a mesosystem environment and observe a group of people and their interactions. Some examples are: a street corner, a familiar spot on campus, a playground, a school property at morning drop off or afternoon pick up, a birthday party. Practice your skills in assessing, observing body language, non verbal interactions, Write up 2-3 paragraphs of what you observed. Make up names for the individuals, give your "best observation guesses" to their chronological ages, their developmental ages. Notice interactions of parents to children, friends of same age, strangers and how they interact among each other. You might experiment: How does the interaction change in the mesosystem as you interact with them, ask a question, make eye contact, ect. Spend 30+ minutes observing before you step into the interaction. Notice competition vs cooperation. Notice the weather and observe its affect on people's mood, observers mood. Challenge yourself! And make it interesting!
