InstructionThe requirements for the assignment are as follows: minimum of six pages, excluding the title and reference pages. Complete the Conflict Self-Assessment, and then answer the following questions: Which 2 approaches to conflict resolution do you tend to underutilize? Why? Which 2 do you tend to use most often? What does that tell you about yourself? Would you use different modes with different health care personnel? If so, provide a minimum of 2 examples. If no, provide your rationale. How can you improve your use of various modes, rather than using one exclusively? Reflect on past and present conflicts in which you have been directly involved. Choose one conflict on which to focus, particularly if it seems to recur. Then write out your responses to the following questions regarding conflict process analysis. Who was the conflict between? How was each person affected? Who? How? Who else was affected and how? Who? How? What was the actual conflict? What were the perceived incompatibilities? Then, consider your approach during each of the following stages: Frustration Stage: What did you feel at the beginning and in the early stages of conflict? What made you feel this way? How did you act as a result of these feelings? Conceptualization Stage: What did you think the real conflict was? Why? What do you now think the other people believed the conflict was? Why? Where did you and others have serious differences? Regarding facts and information, goals and objectives, means and methods of action, and/or standards and values? Action Stage: How did you act specifically (and which of the five approaches to conflict were tried)? Why? How did the other people act? Why? After the conflict was clearly in the outcome stage, were any new actions taken by anyone aimed at resolving this conflict or changing any of the outcomes that followed? Outcomes Stage: What happened to the quality of task accomplishment and efficiency of action as a result of the actions taken? Why? What happened to the quality of the relationships among those involved? Take the self-assessment entitled “What if the Bully Is You?” on page 3 and respond to the following: Discuss your score and the comment and explain why you agree or disagree. If you identified some bullying behaviors in your self-assessment, discuss your plan to change those behaviors. Did you experience bullying as a new nurse or upon beginning a new job? Describe the situation. Discuss 2 ways the staff in your department can support and nurture new employees. How can we refrain from being too hard on new staff? How can you make an effort to help new employees succeed?
