Your Child Psychology Literature Analysis should demonstrate comprehension of the topic of your choice and contain a critical and thoughtful reaction to the chosen book. Your thoughts should make up the majority of the Children’s Literature Analysis. There are a number of ways you might approach the task. a. Focus on an aspect of the topic that pertains to some issue or idea we have discussed in class. Does the book support those concepts? Explain why it is significant. b. You must include the main character(s) and their relationship to the story of the book. c. Focus on a particular theme, personal experience or issue raised by the topic and give your own perspective on it. Include how the books supports the theme. Be sure to elaborate on your opinion. What is your thinking based on? What are the strengths and the weaknesses of the main sides of the story, as you see it? What is your personal experience that is relevant to the issue? What feelings were elicited by the book? d. Include the moral of the story or lessons learned from the book. e. Include how this book applies to psychology and to the practical application or use in a child’s life. f. Include your favorite quote from the book. This assignment is NOT a book report! You must give a brief summary of the topic in order to write a good paper, but only summarize what is necessary to write your thoughts, the rest should be your opinions and relevance to your experiences or feelings elicited from the book. It is also important to avoid vague impressions about the topic. Be specific about the topic, also be sure to include quotes, or concepts, theories or arguments for or against.
