InstructionSocial policy analysis papers critically evaluate the effectiveness of the social policy. By understanding the outcomes of these policies and making recommendations, social workers inform future decision-making. Students will select a policy model and conduct an analysis of a specific federal juvenile or child welfare policy approved by the Instructor. The policy analysis paper MUST be 13-15 pages and follow APA 6th edition format. Page length is a requirement. Points will be deducted if page length is not met. A minimum of 10 sources is required; acceptable sources (2011 and later) include social work or related fields ’journals, scholarly periodicals, statutes, legislative histories, and committee hearings/reports. Citations and*Reference page must be in APA style 6th edition format. *Title page, Reference page, and the Policy Model are not included in the page limit. Students may use a minimum of 2 sources from the course material. I have already submitted a Policy Proposal paper, so you will find attached the social policy proposal that I have chosen to address for the course. That paper will also guide your writing as you will expound on the information provided in that paper. It is extremely important that you follow the rubric closely as well as ensuring that you use APA style 6th edition format. I have attached the rubric as well. The policy analysis paper should include (at minimum) the following sections: 1. Intro/Social Issue: Introduction to the social problem the policy is designed to address 2. Background/History of policy: Describe the historical development and original intent of the policy and how it attempts to address the social problem in question. 3. Underpinning Values: What beliefs, morals, ethics, or values underpin the policy? 4. Unintended Consequences: Unexpected impact of policy 5. Alternatives and Recommendations for the Policy: What’s your suggestion for improvement? 6. Conclusion: Sum it all up Selected topics from the list below, must be submitted in writing for prior approval of the instructor.
