An important component of any business correspondence or report is the Executive Summary. You tried your hand at it with the Pixar Case but this week, we will focus more on revising that Executive Summary to make it even better. An executive summary is a short writing that summarizes the main document in few words without omitting the main points, so that the reader can have an overview of the whole document in brief without going through the whole of it. The executive summary needs to be persuasive and highlight the benefits of your company/product/service, rather than being descriptive and focusing on the features. You can save the features for the body of the proposal. The executive summary needs to grab the reader's attention and pique their interest. This summary is often all of the stakeholders will read of your document, so you need to make sure it conveys the information effectively. For this revision: Include the following information to your executive revision in addition to the original elements of an executive summary. 1. A brief explanation of the key issue(s) of the case (1-2 sentences) 2. Briefly provide your recommendations. (1 sentence) All of this should be one paragraph but capture the essence of your analysis. All in proper APA format and style. So your format would be: APA Cover page Introduction to the assignment – i.e. what you are changing The Original ES from your paper. The Your Revised ES Conclusion – telling what you revised and why. Your assignment this week is revise your Pixar Executive Summary to be clear, concise, and focused. Using the writing techniques you have learned so far, try your hand at revising your Pixar executive summary. Please review the Grading Rubric Prior to submission.
