First paper The assigned reading "Are Latinos Becoming 'White' Folk?" argues that at least some groups currently identified as Latino may be well on their way to absorption into the large category of Americans simply defined as "white." The "white" category has already taken in the Irish, Italians, Jews and others once seen as distinct races. For this paper, identify another group that you think may "become white" in the future, or conversely, a group once seen as white (now or historically) that you think may come to be separated out into its own "racial" category.
